TUBAF Marketing Ticket
From Tuesday 31 March 2026, terra mineralia, the mineral collection of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, will be offering a new marketing ticket: when purchasing a combined ticket at terra mineralia for both terra mineralia and the Mineralogical Collection of Germany, the reduced admission price applies to the geoscience collections. Once the ticket has been issued, visitors have two full working days to visit all three collections.
The geoscientific collections in the Abraham-Gottlob-Werner-Bau are among the ten oldest and largest geoscience collections in the world. Together with terra mineralia at Freudenstein Castle and the ‘Mineralogical Collection of Germany’ exhibition at the Krügerhaus, the world’s largest contiguous complex of collections and exhibitions featuring and relating to minerals is located at TUBAF in the university town of Freiberg.
With the marketing ticket, you can visit all three exhibitions within two working days.
Audio Guide for the Schlösserland
The terra mineralia museum at Freudenstein Castle has been provided with a new audio guide by the Castles of Saxony. In it, Elector August and his wife Anna recount the moving history of Freudenstein Castle. At 11 stops, visitors can see and hear how the castle has constantly changed over 800 years and why it is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region’.
The audio guide is available via the ‘Schlösserland Erleben’ app.
Easter Holiday Programme: ‘Humans and Minerals’
The ‘Humans and Minerals’ Easter holiday programme at terra mineralia, the mineral exhibition at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, focuses entirely on the minerals found in our bodies. From 1–12 April 2026, young mineral enthusiasts and their families can visit Freudenstein Castle daily from 10 am to 5 pm to discover which minerals are found in the human body and what role they play there.
On a tour of the exhibition, visitors of all ages will playfully discover exactly which minerals are involved. Minerals, for example, strengthen bones and teeth, are needed to maintain balance, or give blood its red colour.
Afterwards, in the ‘Research Journey’ hands-on laboratory, students from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg will be waiting to amaze the children with exciting experiments. And of course, everyone is welcome to get stuck in and help out!
